King Cake Review and GIVEAWAY: The PeaceBaker

When I was given the opportunity to review/taste a King Cake from The PeaceBaker, I received the following information from them:

Our king cake is yeast free, gluten free, soyfree, dairyfree, vegan and kosher!!
And I thought - What can that possibly taste like? I have worked many Organic food shows around the country myself and eaten many "cardboard cookies" over the years...but the Peace Baker offers a king cake that has such an AMAZING TASTE!  If I didn't tell you all those things above their king cake is free of - you would NEVER know - there is nothing missing in the taste!

The king cake is 10" round with a cinnamon sugar flavor.  It reminded me of a cinnamon pound cake...but was so MOIST and just melted in my mouth!  I love that the icing is drizzled in the purple, gold, and green with a hint of sparkles...this gives it such a unique look!  I also loved the "pool" of icing that swirled together in the middle (I may or may not have licked the box clean afterward!)

I do not have any food allergies myself (and am thankful my kids don't either) but I can only imagine how hard it is for those struggling with such allergies to watch everyone else enjoy the Mardi Gras season filled with King Cakes that would cause them a severe allergic reaction.  The PeaceBaker offers the perfect solution - and everyone can eat it and LOVE it, food allergies or not!

They are sold at their bakery in Metairie located on Veterans (in the TJMaxx parking lot across from Lafreniere Park) for $25.00 each - shipping is an additional $2 and includes beads in the packaging!

If you are in New Orleans, The PeaceBaker king cakes are also sold at the following locations: The Green Fork, Sacred Grinds, and The New Orleans Co-op

The PeaceBaker is a dedicated gluten-free kitchen free of wheat, barley, spelt, and rye and they offer baked goods that address the common allergens affecting their customers.  I have tasted many of their baked items, and I promise they taste really good!

Mini King Cakes are $3.95 each! They have plenty of gluten-free cookies, pastries, and bread! I also found allergy bracelets that can be purchased to ensure the safety of little ones with food allergies too!

The Peacebaker has given me a FREE KING CAKE to giveaway to one lucky fan!  Winner will be chosen at random and winner can pick up at their Veterans Blvd. location.  King cake must be picked up before March 4, 2014

Giveaways ends Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at midnight

NOTE: All opinions listed above are my own. King cakes were donated by The PeaceBaker for review and giveaway purposes.
