DIY ~ Make Your Own Mardi Gras King Cake at Home!

We all LOVE king cake, but they can be expensive and only available for a short period of time during the Mardi Gras season, so I figured out a way to make my own king cake at home -
and my kind of recipe - just TWO ingredients:

Grands Cinnamon Rolls
Sprinkles

STEP 1: Unroll the cinnamon roll and twist two of them together.  If you want to make mini individual king cakes, simply fold one in half and twist it.  Make sure ends are twisted together or will break apart in baking.
It is important to buy the Grands cinnamon rolls because you have to unroll them (not the biscuit looking cinnamon rolls)

STEP 2: Make a King Cake circle and bake as directed on packaging - keep an eye out for when they look done.

STEP 3: Add icing and sprinkles as desired

STEP 4: Add the King Cake Baby!

IDEAS:
Let each child make their own individual king cakes and
let them decorate however they want too!

This is our Valentine's King Cake!

You can add Christmas sprinkles for a Holiday king cake - Twist and shape into a HEART for Valentine's Day - Oval Easter Egg...and many more! It's also a fun way to make breakfast a little more interesting for kids too - and let them eat cake:)

Here is a quick tutorial to get you in the Mardi Gras spirit!
(Hint: Turn up your volume!)

Laissez les bons temps rouler!
